Mundane things (April 28th) by Mylene

Sitting at home, I try to imagine what life was like before the lockdown. It’s amazing how quickly the brain adapts to changing circumstances. Is this the brain plasticity healthcare professionals are always talking about? Yesterday, I was watching a TV series, and the protagonist read a book in a coffee shop. While in itself quite a mundane activity, it seems so far away now. Like the lifestyle of aliens on another planet or the Tudor’s lives in another century. I watch with curiosity. Perhaps many of the things that we used to do, that were routines, something that was part of our culture, of our way of being, everyday things we didn’t even think about are now extraordinary, slipping away from our collective imagination.
