Homeless (April 28th) by Mylene

The newspaper today offered a glimpse into the challenges people face who have been employed on the basis of precarious contracts. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, many were made redundant and are now living on the streets of London. People who were employed as chefs, waiters, cleaners and many more. I feel particularly affected by reading this article as it reminds me of my own brief period of homelessness and I vividly remember this experience, even though it is a long time ago now. Although my circumstances have changed in the sense that I do have a roof over my head, what hasn’t changed is the sense of always feeling on the edge. Anticipating to slip off the edge of the cliff at any time, falling through the cracks of safety nets.
